Group schemes

Benefits that keep your team.

A group life, health and pension scheme gives your people real protection, and gives your business a serious hiring and retention tool, at a tax-recognised cost.

What a group scheme is.

It’s the insurance of a group of employees through a single policy. The employer carries the cost; each employee can optionally extend the cover to their family.

Because underwriting is done for the group as a whole, no individual health questionnaires are required and waiting periods are short. Life & health plans renew annually.

Why it’s worth it

What each side gains.

  • The businessA strong hiring and retention incentive. Premiums are tax-deductible as a payroll expense. Higher productivity and fewer absences. A modern rewards package at a low cost per person, and a stronger corporate profile (ESG / employer branding).
  • The employeeAccess to private healthcare for themselves and their family, with short waiting periods. Financial protection in the event of accident, critical illness or loss of life. An indirect pay improvement and a sense of security.

The role of group cover

Where it sits in the pyramid of needs.

  1. Individual insuranceCovers each person’s specialised needs, on top of the group scheme. We design it separately where needed.
  2. Group insuranceCovers the basic protection needs for the whole team: fast, uniform and at a low cost per person.
  3. State insuranceCovers the essential needs. The base, but with limits on speed of access and breadth of benefits.

What it includes

The covers in a group scheme.

Life and health cover are provided together; pension can be added or run on its own.

  • 01Life cover & term protection

A lump sum to the beneficiaries in the event of loss of life, with minimum protection covers built into every health plan.

Cover for hospitalisation, surgery, room and ICU costs at contracted hospitals and diagnostic centres, with pre-existing conditions covered after a short wait.

  • 03Outpatient care

Diagnostic tests, medical visits and treatments outside hospital, reimbursed against receipts.

  • 04Accident & permanent disability

Compensation for permanent total or partial disability from an accident, and a daily hospitalisation allowance where provided.

  • 05Critical illness

A lump sum on diagnosis of a covered critical illness, so the employee can focus on recovery.

Building capital for employees’ supplementary pension, with a guaranteed rate set periodically and the option of voluntary funding.

FAQ

Good to know.

  • How many people are needed for a group scheme?

From 5 employees for a life & health plan. The size of the group affects pricing and benefits. We work through it together from the first conversation.

  • Do employees pay anything?

The core cost is carried by the employer. An employee only pays, optionally, if they choose to extend cover to their family members.

  • Are the premiums tax-deductible?

Group premiums are generally recognised as a business expense. Your accountant confirms the final tax treatment under the law in force.

  • What happens if an employee leaves?

They are removed from the policy at the next period. In some cases there is an option to convert to an individual policy with no new health check.
